ROAD will screen on December 9, 2009 @ 7:30pm at the 92Y Tribeca screening room, 200 Hudson Street, New York, NY 10013. 212.601.1000
After the screening, join filmmaker Leslie McCleave, Phillip Musegaas from Riverkeeper, and Dr. Holger Eisl from the Center for the Biology of Natural Systems, Queens College, for a Q&A to discuss resources for finding out about environmental contamination in our own neighborhoods.
Riverkeeper works to protect the Hudson River and its tributaries and to safeguard the drinking water supply of New York City and the lower Hudson Valley. Some of the issues they are involved in are: PCB clean up of the Hudson, ExxonMobil’s oil spill in Greenpoint and the proposed Superfund status of the Gowanus Canal.
Dr. Eisl’s work includes investigating the high rates of asthma in the city and the New York City Community Air Survey, which currently monitors air quality at 150 locations throughout the five boroughs.
